Is the latest version ever going to get posted on the website for download? It's been a couple of weeks now, it's not like its that hard to do...

We're rolling the release slowly to avoid a flood of complaints about the same problem. Once we're certain that things are 100%, it'll get posted. When that happens is up to Fred.

Okay, then could somebody please send me a copy? I'd like to see what the new software looks like first.

TimZ,
If you just want to see what it looks like, download the version for the TECgt from the site. It is virtually identical except for a few GPI/O differences.

Change should be as simple as open your 3.5.6 program in the new WinTEC software and do a save as... This has worked perfectly for some and not perfectly for others. By this I mean the car ran great with no modifcation to the program and others have needed tweaking to get it right.

On another note, the boss has okay'd the final version of WinTEC4 and we will be posting the new version on the website shortly. The final version is 4.8.20, and it includes all the manuals in PDF form and in the form of a Windows help file and updates for all of our units. The help file is organized very much like the PDF manuals but is more searchable and individual sections can be printed for reference. I bring this up because it has made the installer much larger (over 20MB). If you don't have broadband, you'll be waiting quite a while to get the file.

Keep an eye on our website for the new file to be posted. I'll make an announcement here once the file is posted.

I had my purple TEC3's upgraded to use WinTEC4, but I can't use them until the file is posted. No disk was sent with the units when they were upgraded, but there is a sticker on them that says not to use any version older that 4.8.x (sorry I forgot the last digit).

Give us a call, there should have been a disk in with the unit. We'll make sure to get it to you.

Recieved my extra Tec3 from being upgraded for WinTEC 4 yesterday. Did a load of the 3.5.6 bin file and printed out. Did a side by side comparision of the 3.5.6 print out with the v4.8.20 print out and here is what it did not convert straight across:

(My tune was in as close to a factory new car driving tune as I would expect before the conversion, so don't argue my settings. The point is the conversion will not be a 1 for 1 conversion).

Section 1: TOG was 8.55, now 7.314, IOG was -0.618, now 0.250. Selection of the # rows and columns now gone, that now puts a bunch of unwanted rows and columns in the tables, was using a 13 x 16 table. This many buckets must drive tuners crazy and run up the tuning bill to the customer.

Section 2: ACE0 was 54.50, now 12.00, ACE1 was 0.15, now 0.12. (The throttle enrichment now would be dumping fuell all the time, a waste) DCCL3 was 21, now 21.8. Battey compensation table new. MAT fuel enrichment 150C was 0, now 12. Warm up parameters all pushed one bucket to the right on the table (the converted array is bummed) i.e., -40C was 65, now 80, -30C was 50, now 65, -20C was 50, now 65, etc. Edit 6/24 - Also found the radio buttons to select the TPS or Map were not retained.

Section 3, 4, 5: Edit 6/24 - Tables all have oddball row scales, 22,31,42,53, etc. found that the scales can be reset, did so. Don't need and don't want a 16x16 table. Haven't yet seen where this is configurable (if it is at all possible).

Section 6 ok

Sectoin 7 & 8 New

Section 9: Number of cylinder events was 5 now 8. High MAP switch changed from 98 to 103.6kPa (no advice needed here, where it was set is what I want). EGO calibration table is new to the print out, so I need to compare on screen if it was converted as I had it, so it will correspond to the actual voltage output of the wideband) Edit 6/24 - found the on screen parameters have been retained, the print out drops one digit in each bucket.

Section 10: Ok except for the extra rows/columns

Section 11: OK, I don't use it

Section 12: Idle control error sensitivity - was 150, now 175; error sensitivity + was 150, now 175 (swapped the values and look for sure like a conversion bug). Edit 6/24 - found the on screen values were retained, the print out reverses the values as indicated above.

Section 13, 14, 15 OK (I don't use all so don't know if converts correct)

Section 15: Thermo Fan control - Temp above ON was 92, now 96: temp blelow OFF was 92, now 48 (also seems like a conversion bug.)

So there you have it and I will be hand correcting the calibration before I attempt to use it. For now I will be using my un-updated unit until I gain enough bravery to try the WinTEC4.

I also noted the CR is still a digets only on the dashboard and small font, not easy to monitor. Seems the CR is a lot more important value than the MAT which is given lots of room. Edit 6/24 - or put the CR in the white space where the error codes are placed and place the error codes in a harder to see place (they are a less important active number when tuning)

:? I'm curious as to why this would need to change.

Also, it appears that the new software has been posted at

http://www.getfuelinjected.com/products/software/

I downloaded it and tried to fire it up - comes up okay on my desktop, but my laptop craps out with an "Error 13 - type mismatch" on startup, apparently during data base initialization. I haven't had much of a chance to look into this, but would appreciate any suggestions - the only thing I found with a seach involved changing the international settings, which a) I don't think is my problem, being set for American English, and b) couldn't change anyway, since the program craps out too soon.

I don't believe any of the values should change, but many were changed in various places. My run down was meant to be informative, maybe help somebody at Electromotive fixing bugs.
