Hello to all.
I work on a M88/S38 B35/36 BMW M5 motor. I got the TECgt ECU and wondering if I can run a super charger with an A/C clutch setup, controlled by the ECU?
Boost goal 5-10 psi, run on pump gas, Air / Water inter cooler, 350-400HP.
My idea is, cruising with out supercharger boost, and when needed, flip a switch and activate the super charge clutch, or have the ECU turn on the super charger at a given RPM/ Load.
Is there than a need for two MAP sensors? Can the ECU be programmed for this purpose?
What are your recommendations?
Any idea is welcome.
Thank you
Mr.JAJA

You won't need two MAP sensors. Just pickup the one you need to handle the boost the super charger will make and go from there. You'll end up sort of doubling up your tuning because you'll need to tune both for boost and no-boost. But it can be done all one one map. The control the supercharger itself, I would suggest using the Custom AND function the GPO you choose to control the SC clutch. This will give you the window you need to turn the super chager on when you like.
Be aware however, that the transition will be tricky to get right. I think you will really notice it when it kicks on. Maybe that's what you want, but it could be a little dangerous in lowish traction situations. That of course could be ANYTIME if you make enough horsepower. I can think of a couple of refinement things you could do if it proves to be a problem. We can discuss that if it comes up.
