how many crank degrees are required for the coils to start to spark for start up? I see some of the factory stuff is 90 crank degrees.

Generally the system must see the missing tooth section followed by all 58 teeth and then the missing tooth section before it will start firing the coils. This may be as much as two rotations depending on where the engine comes to rest when shut down. Noise from other electrical devices can make take longer, but that can be cured in the wire routing and connection locations.
