We spent the first few runs sitting out trying to figure out why the tec would not accept the changes in the map. I got a message that the firmware was adjusted? to work with the file?
Can we upgrade the ecu to work with the new software? I want to use the rev limit approach and give that a shot.
WHAT is the BEST way to retrieve datalogs? We got 2 logs out of 6 yesterday. It keeps giving me 1% or says the file is corrupt when I try to open it up.

when sitting in pits we have no problem getting logs. when we make a run we have issues.
we wait till im staged before turning on switch. i make the run and have tried the various senarios for shutting down the system
1. turn off ignition then datalog switch. 2. turn off datalog switch and then ignition
now, he was able to get the log from scenario number one, number to was corrupted.
i also have the excess wires, the spare GPO/I wires coiled up together with one 5v hot and ground wire. im going to take all these wires completely out of the loom in case there might be some issue there too.
again, THANK YOU for your help and input. your time is greatly appreciated!

Be sure that the GPI that triggers the datalog goes to ground when you switch the log off otherwise the ECU will only intermittently recognize the off command and leave corrupt logs behind.
12v_____switch_____________GPI GND_____bulb_____/
I wire as above. When you switch on the GPI is activated and the lightbulb reminds you it is on. When the switch is off the path thru the lightbulb grounds the GPI.
OP - Yes you can upgrade your firmware yourself. Look up "Firmware Upgrade Procedure" in the TEC-GT Users Guide. The latest firmware releases that belong to your current version of WinTEC4 are located in WinTEC4/bin/*.EM3.

heres how its wired now,
12v-------- switch -------GPI
totally seperate
12v -------- bulb -------- G16 which is datalog status light.
the bulb in your wiring diagram is just to tell you the DL has power but dont know if it is datalogging?
with G16 wired as above, all it does is turn on solid, no flashing or anything when datalogging starts.

The buld that ETM suggested is just an indicator to show that the switch is on. It should be used in addition to the buld connected to G16.
Here's what the datalog status light should do: Off - no datalogging On - Datalogging Flashing - Datalog full

Wiring a switch indicator light such as ETM suggested would help elliminate spike thus loosing data? Grounding out the gpi in a since acts like a capaciter?

The bulb simply creates a path to ground. Assures the GPI/ECU recognizes the change in state. You could accomplish the same thing with no bulb using a two way switch to toggle the GPI lead to 12v for log on or to ground for log off.

went out this weekend and ran car. was not able to get a log file. i wired up exactly as shown. but, we think it might be a voltage deal the reason why were not getting any logs at the track.
in the shop we can log no problem all day, i have bat charger on car the whole time and only the motor running. in the field, there is no charger, my intercooler pump and vacuum pump are running in addition to fuel pump. i fig total amperage is about 50 amps or so. these things are power hogs. i put charger on between runs but its not enough to keep voltage high. (ill get 16v soon)
now, a question i have is concerning whether i turn off motor first or data log switch first. does it really matter? when i go through the traps one time ill turn off datalogger first, the next tme ill turn off engine first... still same result.

ok, so installed 16v batter....glad we did. but still no datalog... argh!!!!
i have the long wire loom.. i rolled up the last few gpi/o's up and zip tied them together. also, in that loom was the gpi/o that was ror the datalog too. never shortened it like it should of been done to begin with.
long story short, i pulled all the extra wires from main plug, shortened up the datalog gpi/o and didnt leave the db9 chord that we use to connect to computer to download....
viola... logged two runs!!!
i should of listened to earlier advice about pulling extra gpi/o's wires out. just hate to pull soemthing that miht be needed / used later down the road.
not sure which of those things really made the diff.. but we got two runs haha...
