When setting TOG/IOT, I know the goal is to get the raw fuel curve as close to ideal as possible.

When adjusting the VE table, what would be considered an excessive amount? If I can get the high load stuff close with TOG but have to pull 15-20% out of the low load, is that too much?

The problem I am having is when I have TOG adjusted to where it's proper on the high load stuff, and IOT adjusted to where the car will idle nicely at 14.7 and 30-40kpa, as soon as it gets into the 50kpa and up zones it wants like -15 or more and creates a big transition. Trying to smooth that out by tweaking TOG and IOT but haven't found a solution. Any ideas?

There is nothing wrong with having an adjustment such as that. Does the car not repsond to the adjustment or do you just think it is wrong?

I just wasn't sure how much deviation I should see. In the manual they stress the importance of trying to minimise the amount of correction necessary through IOT/TOG but don't give any frame of reference (+/-10, +/-30?) After talking with Uve I am feeling comfy with the numbers I am getting now.

A change in the A/F table will cause the actual fuel line to not be straight. Take a look at the table, it probably has a change in A/F at the same cell as the VE changes.

I graph my VE normalized to one A/F for analysis purposes. The curve from the normalized computed PW values are smooth lines where the raw VE is not. By this method I can change the A/F table and overlay the old data on the new and make a new VE table from the new normalized curve. Done it many times.
