ok I download winTec 3.5.6(even with 3.4.1 it does it) and I go to open a file to modify I get "error invalid port 8002" anyone know what that is? I have a toshiba laptop with Windows XP and I have a Berklin USB to Serial adapter. I would like to get this to work so I can start my car and start tuning it. any help would be great.
Thanks
Dave

ok I thinki I kinda figured it out. when I connected the ECU to the laptop the "error" doesnt come up but as soon as I disconnect from the ECU I get the "error 8002" right away. anyone else have this problem? would kinda like to play with this at home and do some files at home then come back and load them onto the car.
thanks
Dave

Verify your wintec is setup to look for the correct port. Check what port your serial adapter is assigned and set the port in Wintec accordingly. Other than that I dont know what could cause it.

I use a spare Belkin usb to serial cable to plug into the laptop when I want to to open a bin file when not connected to the ecu ( I leave a usb to serial cable hooked to the ecu up and out of the way). I assign it a different port than the ecu usb to serial cable in the car.

yeah I figured it out after disconnecting the adapter and stuff. I got it. kinda sucks but hey it works. No I just have to update the firmware and upload the software then we will see if thing wants to start, and hopefully do some tuning.
